A funeral mass was offered Aug. 11 St. Francis R.C. Church in Hoboken for Filomena Stoia, a 67 year Hoboken resident. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her family in Secaucus on Aug. 7. Born in Molfetta, Italy, Filomena came to Hoboken in 1948. Millie, as she was known, was a retired seamstress with various clothing manufacturers in the mile square city. She was a devotee to the patroness of Molfetta, Madonna Dei Martre, and was the past former president of the Madonna Dei Martre organization.
She was predeceased by her husband Giovanni Stoia in 2012. Filomena leaves to mourn her, two daughters, Frances and Susan Stoia; a brother, Morris Facchini and his wife Angela’ her sister, Anna Danza and her husband Tony; and a sister-in-law, Francesca Valente. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and their children. Millie was also predeceased by two sisters-in-law, Maria Ciccolella and Ottavia Detrizio. Services arranged by the Failla Memorial Home, Hoboken.
