Despite rain, flash flood warning canceled

HUDSON COUNTY — The Office of Emergency Management sent out this bulletin this morning: “ALTHOUGH ADDITIONAL SCATTERED HEAVY SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST WITH THE SLOW APPROACH OF A COLD FRONT WIDESPREAD FLASH FLOODING IS NO LONGER ANTICIPATED.”
A check of one of the flood-prone areas of Hoboken in the northwest section around 10 a.m. showed some puddles, but no widespread flooding. Heavier rains started after that, but are tapering off.
The attached photo shows some of the bigger puddles in northwest Hoboken in the morning, but no flooding was observed in that area or at the nearby supermarket.
