During the hour-long tour, participants will see demonstrations and meet the creators of the robots. The lab has created cutting-edge robots that mimic the swarming behavior in the animal kingdom and traverse difficult terrain using multiple legs. A modular robotics lab focuses on how small mechanisms are combined in a modular way to create complex things. Also on display will be autonomous soccer-playing robots that walk around, find the ball, kick, and even get up if they fall. The team at GRASP is preparing for the Robo Cup tournament in China.
Children from Secaucus and neighboring towns are welcome to attend. The tour is free. Attendees will need to get to Philadelphia and back on their own. To sign up, contact Sidd Saran at ssaran@invntr.net or (201) 691-7498. Information on the lab can be found at grasp.upenn.edu

It is against the law to leave your pet in the car in conditions adverse to its health and welfare. Do not put your pet in danger.
Remember to register your dogs and cats with the town clerk. Please be courteous of your neighbors and obey the town ordinance by picking up after your pet.
Refrain from feeding and attracting wildlife, birds, stray animals, and feral cats in areas that are not designated as feeding stations. For any wildlife concerns, call the Secaucus Animal Shelter at (201) 348-3213.
These tips can help keep your pets happy and healthy this summer.

Vendor space available for Friends of the Library Mini-Fair/Book Sale

The Friends of the Secaucus Public Library’s 18th Annual Mini-Fair/Used Book Sale will take place on the library grounds on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “Vendors planning to be part of the Mini-Fair need to sign up soon as space is quickly growing scarce,” said Library Director Jenifer May.

Over eight feet is $45. “Vendors must supply their own tables and chairs,” said May. “If you are unable to do this, there are a limited number of tables and chairs available at the library for a rental fee of $10. There is also limited access to electricity on the library grounds and accommodations for that must be approved well in advance. All arrangements for a table, tent or any other special accommodations must be made with and approved by the library director and reservations must be paid no later than Friday, Sept. 11.”
The annual Friends of the Library Mini-Fair/Used Book Sale is the group’s main fundraiser and provides the means to maintain the library as the community’s informational, cultural, and educational hub.
