A fun time was had by all

With its theme as “where there is love; there is peace,” St. Anne’s Festival in Jersey City had larger numbers and more variety than any time in the past.
Dedicated to the memory of deceased parishioners Gloria Englehardt, Patricia Santana, Alexander Courlter, Sr. Christine Burke, Thomas Mulkeen, and Nick Zabala, the festival was organized and run by parishioners.
Food was prepared and served by local residents, as were the numerous other activities. Local bands provided much as the musical sound track. The annual festival ran from July 24 to 26 near the church at 3545 Kennedy Blvd. in Jersey City.
“Food is one of the most attractive features of St. Anne’s parish festival almost entirely staffed and run by volunteers who come mainly from the parish community itself,” said Father John Ranieri. “The festival is genuinely a community effort, and without the participation of a significant portion of the community, it would not and will not be able to continue.”
