Everyone deserves a place to worship

To the Editor:

I was shocked to read in the July 22 edition of the Community News that there was opposition to a proposed mosque and community school. I am a lifelong Bayonne resident, and I must say I strongly disagree with our “neighbor” on 23rd Street. There is nothing radical about a house of worship, whether it be Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or any other religion. I have prayed in the current Bayonne mosque many times. I have never felt more at home and more proud of Bayonne while doing so. Waleed, Abdul, and the other members of the mosque were welcoming and accepted me as one of their own. I only hope we can afford them that same courtesy, and I know the majority of Bayonne residents feel the same way.
