Agreement reached in Wepner mural miscue
The city and the owner of a building on which a mural of Chuck Wepner has been affixed have forged an agreement that allows the artwork to stay there for at least three years, according to Bayonne Corporation Counsel Jay Coffey.
The mural was painted and then adhered to the building at 735-737 Broadway without the owner’s permission in an apparent communications breakdown.
Coffey said that on Friday, July 17, Shi Investments LLC of Bayonne agreed to accept a $100 a month license agreement for three years. The licensing is required to comply with a Bayonne city ordinance.
The fee will be paid by the Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone trust account, Coffey said.
The city also has to paint the wall the mural is attached to the color matching the rest of the building.
At the end of three years, the two parties can either renegotiate for another three years or take down the mural and restore the wall to its previous state.
Bayonne actor appearing in New York play

Levin is a former Bayonne resident. Crafford is also the playwright and director.
The show will run at the American Theater of Actors, 314 West 54th St. from Wednesday, July 29 to Sunday, Aug. 2. Wednesday through Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday’s is at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door. Half the proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warriors Foundation.

Bayonne company pays tribute to distinguished veterans
Veterans of Foreign Wars Commander-in-Chief John Stroud was presented with a Henry Repeating Arms Military Service Tribute Rifle during the Joint Opening Session of the VFW’s 116th National Convention on Monday, July 20 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Anthony Imperato, president of Henry Repeating Arms, which has a Bayonne manufacturing facility, presented the rifle to thank Stroud for his service to the country and for his leadership service to the nation’s veterans.
Imperato recognized five distinguished veterans by inviting them to the stage to present each of them with a Military Service Tribute Rifle.
Imperato also made a $50,000 donation to the VFW in honor of his father, who served in the United States Army in Korea from 1953-1955.
