To the Editor:
As the New Jersey State Commander of The American Legion and a Bayonne resident, I was honored to have Walter F. Robinson School participate in this year’s American Legion Department project. I hope through future projects with your school involving veterans, the students understand how much we do to make sure our veterans receive only the very best care and equipment available because they have earned it. This year’s project involved purchasing a new, 12 wheelchair accessible bus and two Hoyer lifts for Menlo Park Memorial Park Veterans Home. For Vineland Veterans Memorial Home, they requested quality of life equipment for the veterans. They will receive five new computers, two pool tables, new common area furniture, new patio furniture and four automatic doors for installation. The total cost of the project was $120,000 and as of now, we stand at $135,562. I want to thank the students along with Ms. Morello, my wife Susan Wilson, Ms. Najmi, Mr. Bransfield and the student council for making this donation possible. This donation not only helped us attain our goal but also honored the veterans residing in both Menlo Park and Vineland Veterans Homes.
