JERSEY CITY — A man in Jersey City Heights was fatally shot on July 5, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police were dispatched to the area of St. Paul’s Avenue and Concord Street on a report of loud fireworks.
As the officers were dispersing the crowd involved with the fireworks, they were flagged down at the intersection of Fleet and Concord streets by an individual reporting that a man had just been shot.
The police found the victim, Orlando Flores, 34, in front of 22 Fleet St. with an apparent gunshot wound. Flores was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m.
An arrest has not yet been made, but the investigation is still active. Investigators believe the shooting was the culmination of a long-standing personal dispute and not a random act of violence.
The Prosecutor’s Office in investigating and is seeking information from the public.
