Alexis Galgano leads Special Panthers to victory at state meet

In her very first SONJ chapter games, Alexis Galgano led a 14 – member contingent, representing the Bayonne Recreation Panthers Special Olympics Track & Field Team, by copping two gold medals in her events. The 2015 SONJ Chapter Games were contested at the College of New Jersey in Ewing with the following results:

25 – meter Walk: Silver Medal – Virginia Canimo

100 – meter Walk: Silver Medal – Barbara Mari and Michael Walsh
Gold Medal – Debbie LeSane

400 – meter Walk: Fourth – Jody Czucza
Bronze Medal – Wendy DiDomenico and
Dennis Driscoll
Silver Medal – Siearra Battle and
Barbara Mari

800 – meter Walk: Sixth – Jody Czucza
Bronze Medal – Siearra Battle

200 – meter Dash: Sixth – Roger Belanger
Fourth – Samantha Ciemiecki
Bronze Medal – Nicole Bawiec
Silver Medal – Ronald Benitez
Gold Medal – Alexis Galgano

100 – meter Dash: Sixth – Francheska Huentelaf

Softball Throw: Seventh – Dennis Driscoll
Sixth – Virginia Canimo

Bronze Medal – Debbie LeSane

The Panthers’ weekend was capped off by the fabulous performance of both relay squads:
The now four – time defending State Champs in the 4×100 – Walk Relay (Cheetahs): Gold Medal – Barbara Mari, Siearra Battle, Jody Czucza and Debbie LeSane.

And the fantastic performance of the 4×100 – meter Relay (Panthers): Francheska Huentelaf, Samantha Ciemiecki, Nicole Bawiec and Ronald Benitez
The Panthers were accompanied to the meet by their very proud coaches and chaperones Denise Bawiec, Theresa Diaz, Tom Moody, John Valdora and Veronica Burns.
