73, of Manahawkin, formerly of Bayonne, passed away on June 13, 2015. Born in Bayonne, he was a longtime resident who was served with the city fire department for over 20 years where he served as Lieutenant and also as a fire inspector for Jersey City. He was an army veteran and a member of the F.M.B.A., American Legion Post 511, F. A. Mackenzie Post Unit 165 and also was involved with many Bayonne political organizations. He was the husband of Patricia (nee: Pisarewicz); father of Melissa Stamboly and her husband, Ronald; Alison Bender and her husband, Ryan; grandfather of Samantha Stamboly, Lucas Bender, Sydney Stamboly and Gavin Bender; brother of Ellen DeVenuto, and the late James Murphy; son of the late John T. Murphy Sr. and Helen Mullane Murphy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to his favorite charity: St. Joseph’s Indian School of South Dakota.
