He was the husband of the late Grazia (nee: Bellomo); father of Nunzio and wife, Rosalia; Mario; and of Antonio and wife, Fina. Pietro was also the grandfather of Pietro Paolo and Grazia Anna Barberi; Maria Rentas and husband, Nick; Pietro Mario and Rosalia Barberi; and Graziella Baccarella and husband PJ. Pietro was the great-grandfather of Sofia Maria Rentas, Nicholas Anthony Baccarella and Adriana Anna and Valentina Barberi and the great-great-grandfather of Lorenzo Barberi.
