A funeral service was offered June 11 at All Saints Church for Spencer H. Gelband, 67, of Hoboken. He passed away June 8 at his home in Hoboken, surrounded by his friends and family. Spencer was born in Brooklyn, lived in New York City, and lived the past 21 years in Hoboken. He had degrees from the University of Virginia, the University of Rhode Island and attained a PhD in History from the University of Maryland. Spencer retired from the New York City MTA and ran his own tour business in later years, “A Friend in NY.” He was a very active member of the Hoboken society and will be sorely missed by all his close friends.
He was predeceased by his partner Kevingerarrd Cannon and his father, Bernard Gelband. Spencer is survived by his mother, Edna Gelband, and brother Scott Gelband (Diane). Services arranged by the Lawton Funeral Home, Hoboken.
