BAYONNE – It’s back. After an absence of several years, the Bayonne Hometown Fair makes its resurgence on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 7, noon to 6 p.m.
The fair will be located on Broadway between 22nd and 24th streets, on West 23rd Street, and on Del Monte Drive between 22nd and 24th streets.
The opening ceremony with Mayor James Davis will be at noon on Saturday on the stage at Del Monte Drive and 22nd Street. For the rest of the fair, that stage will offer a variety of types of entertainment, including musical performances, comedians, a belly dancer, and cheerleader and karate demonstrations.
A highlight of this year’s fair will be the 55-foot Ferris wheel, which there will be a charge for, as with the other mechanical rides. However, inflatable rides will be free, as will play on the mini-golf course at 23rd Street and Del Monte Drive.
More than 80 vendors and organizations will take part in the fair, with tables at 23rd Street and on Broadway. They will feature food, merchandise, and promotional items.
“The Bayonne Hometown Fair will offer fun and entertainment for the entire family,” Davis said. “I would like to encourage the whole community to come out and enjoy this event.”
Major sponsors are BCB Community Bank, CarePoint Health, Journey Community Church, and Bogdan Orthodontics.
There are no fair rain dates. In the event of inclement weather, efforts will be made to resume the fair as circumstances permit. – Joseph Passantino
