Feeley, Doyle impress as Penguins win

Meeting for the first time this season, the (1-0) Devils took on the (1-0) Penguins in an early season JCC of Bayonne Senior Division Floor Hockey showdown. Brawling for every inch of space both squads played at midseason form with John Bautista, Chloe Gregory, Allen “Lefty” McComb and Mackenzie Woods setting the tone for the Devils’ defense with the Penguins’ Jared Radil, Caitlin Feeley, Kasper Hooks, and James Bajor playing lockdown defense. The scoreless tussle ended when the Devils’ Jacob Kowal assisted Marek Mickiewicz on a net jarring blast. Coming off a 5-0 shutout victory at net in week one, the Devils’ Colin Woods continued his flawless play for the first 25 minutes with seven saves. It took a furious flurry on net by the Penguins to finally tie the bout as Megan Feeley battled a pass to Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes who hit his mark making it 1-1. The final fifteen minutes played out like a heavy weight fight in a phone booth as neither team would back down. Keying the action was the Devils’ Logan Mazziota who hit the post twice while the Penguins’ Matt Doyle pounced on 9 shots on net. With time running out, the Penguins’ Drew Radil centered a zip-line pass to Megan Feeley who nailed the game winner with just four seconds remaining to stun the Devils as the Penguins captured a 2-1 victory.
