Bajor leads Penguins to victory

Coming off a disappointing defeat in game one of their JCC of Bayonne Sr. Division Floor Hockey campaign, the (0-1) Islanders hoped to get on track as they faced the Penguins. The Penguins jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first five minutes as Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes scored off an assist by James Bajor. Two minutes later the Islanders answered as J.P. Egan railed in a hot shot as Jake Peregrin picked up the assist. The 1-1 tie didn’t last long as the Islanders grabbed a 2-1 advantage as Julian Giron hit his mark with a 20 foot blast while Peregrin notched his second assist. Zeroed in on the Islanders’ net, the Penguins found themselves hog-tied by the incredible goal tending of Harsh Easwar and the relentless zone clearing of Elliott Santana and Andres Giron. Fortunately for the Penguins, their defense also answered the Islanders’ challenge as Matt Doyle held the fort while the Feeley sisters, Megan and Caitlin, put on a defensive clinic. After a twenty minute scoring drought, the Penguins finally knotted the bout at 2 all as James Bajor scored off an assist by Jared Radil. Returning to a defensive donnybrook both squads battled down the stretch with Jaden Subacz (Islanders) and Kasper Hooks (Penguins) surging into the offensive mix. With just under 10 minutes remaining, the Penguins took a 3-2 lead as Drew Radil sailed a pinpoint pass to James Bajor who drilled in his second goal. Fighting towards the wire, the Islanders seemed to score the tying goal but after review the goal was waved off as the Penguins survived with a 3-2 victory.
