Funeral mass was offered April 23 at Immaculate Conception Church for Anthony Mongelli, Sr., 92, of Secaucus. He passed away April 19 after a short hospital stay. Son of the late Ignazzio and Maria Mongelli of Union City. Predeceased by siblings Angelina Brizich, Mary Cauda and Thomas Mongelli. Husband to the love of his life, the late Frances (nee Parisi) Mongelli. Survived by brother Joseph Mongelli of Fort Lee; sons Anthony Jr. of South Orange and his wife Rita, Gary of Secaucus and Joseph of Holliston, MA and his wife Clare; brother-in-law Robert “Buddy” Parisi of Little Ferry, his wife Diane and their children who were all very close to him; grandchildren Toni-Lynn Villani, Rocco Mongelli, Damon Mongelli, Peter Mongelli and Christopher Mongelli; great grandchildren Ella and Frankie Villani, and Ariel Mongelli.
Like many of his generation, Anthony volunteered and served in the armed forces during WW2. At the age of 21, he participated in the D-Day invasion and ended his army career as a Technical Corporal. After the war, he served as commander of the Secaucus American Legion Post. Business entrepreneur/owner: Parisian Soap Company, Secaucus Rendering, D&A Grease and Biofuel; others. Faithful parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Secaucus. Fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Mary Immaculate Council 12769, Secaucus. Coach of Secaucus Police Athletic League young men’s boxing during 1960’s. Services arranged by the Mack Memorial Home, Secaucus.
