Dear Editor:
Throughout my 34 year career as a law enforcement officer in West New York, I have considered it a distinct honor to be able to serve and protect the people of the town I love. I took an oath with that intention in mind when I joined the police force over three decades ago. And I have upheld that standard proudly with integrity ever since. Now, I want to help serve and protect all the people in our town – in an additional capacity – by serving on the Board of Commissioners of West New York. We need to bring pride back to our community, and we need to open up our local government so that all of our residents can have an equal voice. That is why I am running on the West New York United slate along with Count Wiley, Myrli Sanchez, Thomas Leung, and Hector Hernandez. All of these experienced individuals are dedicated to delivering the best to the people of our town. All of them are devoted to serving our community, and all of them have a proven record of outstanding accomplishments. In my case, I have been fortunate and honored to have received many accolades and awards for my law enforcement service. At various times over the years, I have been responsible for the security and safety of residents living in Housing Authority buildings. As a detective, I sought not only to keep the streets safe, but also to rehabilitate some offenders so that they could re-enter society as productive and law-abiding people. And, as a senior officer during one of the most tumultuous times in the history of the West New York Police Department, I never lost sight of my prime duty: to serve and protect all the people, not special interests or private concerns. As a devoted husband to my wife, Bertica, and as a father and grandfather, the one common thread that has run throughout my life and career is my deep commitment to improve the quality of life for all of our residents.
I want to continue to fight for that objective on the Board of Commissioners, and urge each of you to get out and vote on May 12th for the entire West New York United team on Column D. Make no mistake about it. The solution to our town’s problems requires five dedicated commissioners determined to work together effectively to serve all the people. Vote Column D.
