Easter fun for all

To the Editor:

On March 28, the Bayonne Initiative held its very first Easter Egg coloring contest. I am happy to say that it was a Egg-tastic time for all who attended. I would like to thank all the parents and children who made it down to enjoy the festivities. Thank you to all trustees, especially volunteer Rosalia Devine who was a great help in the setup, decorating, and donations. Thank you to Judicke’s Bakery and also to the Bayonne Smile Center for your donations for our event. They were most generous and appreciated.
The Bayonne Initiative was set up by a group of volunteers so that we can extend outreach to our community and help each other at any given time when needed. There can never be too much volunteerism in a community such as Bayonne’s.
I would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Second Ward Councilman Sal Gullace. At the end of our event, we held a raffle for the Easter baskets. Although all children did leave with a dental kit from the Bayonne Smile Center and an Easter egg filled with goodies, there were some children who were upset that they did not win the baskets. Second Ward Councilman Gullace, being the kind, generous person he is, offered to buy a basket for any child who wanted one and did not previously win one. The Bayonne Initiative did indeed deliver these baskets this week. Thank you again, Sal, you are truly a standup guy.
