Funeral mass was held March 26 at St Anne RC Church, Jersey City, for Thomas Fiore, retired Jersey City fire captain. He passed away March 22 at the NJ Fireman’s Home in Boonton. Thomas was born in Jersey City, the son of the late Lucy and Saverio Fiore and lived most of his life in Jersey City. Thomas was a retired fire captain who in his 32 years of service to the people of Jersey City worked in all of the fire houses in the city. Thomas was a veteran of WWII where he served in the US Air Force and flew 32 combat missions as a radio gunner on a B17 bomber. Thomas developed a love for airplanes after leaving the Air Force, and he became a pilot, flight instructor and flight mechanic. Thomas enjoyed music and playing his guitar.
