Dear Editor:
As a lifelong resident of Hudson County and as someone who understands the challenges families and workers in our state face, I take great issue with Dan Herrera’s recent letter attacking Bob Menendez. No elected official – of either party – has done more for the people of our state and Hudson County than Senator Menendez. No one has stood up and fought for all of us, against great odds, the way Bob has.
When Sandy hit and devastated our neighborhoods, Bob fought for funding and help for us to rebuild— and he’s still fighting to make sure homeowners get their fair share. Without Bob Menendez, there would be no Hudson-Bergen light rail system to connect residents with jobs, the Secaucus Marina would be unusable for our coast guard and first-responders and the Bayonne firehouse would still be just a dream. He’s fought for years to preserve and protect Liberty State Park and Ellis Island and won’t give up until nuisance tourist helicopters are no longer flying over homes and parks around the Hudson River.
Bob Menendez is a person of great integrity, grit and determination who never backs down in the fight for what’s right. And he’s kept his word to represent our interests every single day. That’s the kind of guy New Jersey needs.
