O’Hara, Easwar rally Rockets to victory

Suffering their second defeat of the season, the now (4-2) Comets hoped to rebound as they took the court against the (2-4) Rockets in a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Sr. Division rumble. Scoring quickly, Shashwat Punjani turned a pass from Kasper Hooks into the Comets’ first goal. Down 1-0, the Rockets exploded for four straight goals as Kevin Aguilar (1), Kyle O’Hara (2), and Jaden Subacz (1) rang up scores while Harsh Easwar and Subacz also notched assists. After some adjustments, the Comets roared back as Shashwat Punjani bulled in three goals in less than five minutes to tie the game at 4 all. One of the key components of the Comets’ surge was the “bombs away” passing of goal tender Drew Radil who picked up two assists as he sailed passes to Punjani. Shaken by the Comets’ outburst, the Rockets regrouped with Kyle O’Hara (1 goal, 1 assist) and Harsh Easwar (1 goal, 1 assist) leading the way as the Rockets regained the lead at 6-4. Trailing again the Comets narrowed the Rockets’ lead to 6-5 as Jared Radil pumped in an unassisted goal. Desperate for another goal, the Comets’ Jacob Kowal and Anushka Chakrabarti took on the task of holding down the defensive fort but after being stymied by the Rockets’ defensive duo of Chloe Gregory and Natallyah Teixeira the Comets feel prey to Harsh Easwar’s game clinching boot. Slipping to (4-3) after their 7-5 defeat, the Comets still have one more game to right the ship.
