The Joe Noyes Crew

Dear Editor:
On September 15th 1943 an American B-17 bomber with ten airmen on board failed to return home from a mission. One of them was a 2LT Frank A. Roth, from Union City, NJ. He was serving overseas with the 95th Bomb Group based in Horham, England. Around 1998, when I was 14 years old, I found a photograph of a stranger in a book. I decided on a whim to research his life, and found out he never came home from the war. His name was Joe Noyes, and he was the pilot in command of the B-17 that went missing.
My research has taken me around the world, and I am currently working on a book. Joe’s remains were the only ones ever recovered, and so Frank is still technically missing in action. It is my hope that my research will ensure The Joe Noyes Crew and their families will never be forgotten. I am seeking family members or friends who may have known 2LT Frank A. Roth, and I hope the Hudson Reporter can assist me with this.
