KERZNER, RUTH

Funeral services took place March 18 for Ruth Kerzner, 86, most recently of Jackson. She died March 15. She was born and raised in Jersey City. For 42 years, she and her late husband Milton (her spouse of 66 years) lived on Stegman Terrace. For many of those years, their family summered in Belmar. After putting their children through college, Ruth and Milt retired to Sunrise, Fla. during the winter months and Lions Head, Brick during the summer months. After 18 years in Florida, they returned to New Jersey, residing for a period of time in Tinton Falls. Prior to retirement, Ruth worked as a Learning Disabilities Specialist at A. Harry Moore School, Jersey City. She went to college at the age of 34, achieving coursework beyond her Master’s Degree in Special Education, just a thesis short of her doctorate, at Jersey City State College, now New Jersey City University. During retirement, Ruth enjoyed an active life, golfing, sculpting, oil painting, pursuing cultural activities such as museums and concerts, and spending countless hours with friends and family. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her granddaughter Alena, to whom she referred to as “munchkin.”
Predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Edna Barr, and her husband, Milton, she is survived by her daughter Nina Ebert, husband Jason, and their daughter Alena of New Egypt, her son Stuart and his wife Joanne of Port Republic, her sister Anita Frolkis of Illinois, and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Services arranged by the Belkoff-Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood.
