Aguilar, Teixeira fuel Rockets

After suffering a frustrating 1-0 loss to the Comets in game one of their JCC of Bayonne Indoor Soccer Sr. Division doubleheader, the Rockets hoped to bounce back as they faced the (2-2) Sonics. At (1-4), the Rockets needed to right the ship as they approached the regular season stretch run. Deadlocked at 0-0 for over twenty minutes, the Sonics finally broke the tie as Robert Ochoa zipped a pass to James Bajor who sent the ball into the right side of the Rockets’ net. Mired in another defensive donnybrook, the Rockets’ net guarding tandem of Harsh Easwar and Natallyah Teixeira rolled up their sleeves and rallied the defense. Inspite of an endless barrage of shots on net by the Sonics’ T. J. Wolf, Allen “Lefty” McComb, and Mackenzie Woods, the Rockets’ goal stayed empty. Feeding off his squads rocksolid “D”, the Rockets’ Kevin Aguilar tied the bout with a scoring shot off an assist from Kyle O’Hara. Returning to a defensive stalemate, the Sonics took a page from the Rockets’ playbook and added Alejandro Cifuentes and Alejandro Vargas into the mix as sweepers to clog-up the passing lanes. Racing towards overtime, the Rockets rolled the dice and went on one last attack as Chloe Gregory drilled a full court pass to Jaden Subacz who assisted Kevin Aguilar on the game winning net jet as the Rockets sealed a 2-1 victory.
