BAYONNE AND BEYOND – With the backing of Bayonne Mayor James Davis, Nicholas Chiavaralloti officially kicked off his campaign on Tuesday, March 10, meeting with community leaders in Bayonne and Jersey City.
“Nicholas isn’t just from Bayonne – he’s for Bayonne,” Davis said. “He’s our native son and we believe that he will proudly represent the interests of Bayonne in our state’s capital.”
Chiavaralloti, a lifelong Bayonne resident, is running for the Assembly in Legislative District 31. If elected, at the age of 42, Chiavaralloti would be one of the youngest members of the state legislature.
“Surreal, that’s the word I use when I think about this opportunity,” said Chiavaralloti. “For me, this is very personal. My family, friends, neighbors, and classmates live in this district.”
Chiavaralloti also enjoys the support of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.
“I believe from the bottom of my heart that we can do more for the residents of Bayonne and Jersey City,” said Chiavaralloti.
The candidate said his campaign would focus on the issues of property taxes, economic development, funding the transportation trust fund, and creating jobs.
The official filing deadline for petitions is March 30 and the primary is June 2.
