Sitting atop of the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Soccer Sr. Division, the (2-0) Comets took on the (0-2) Rockets in a week two rematch. Brawling to a 0-0 start for over fifteen minutes, the Comets goaltender, Drew Radil, finally took matters into his own hands and fired a net to net howitzer to put the Comets up 1-0. Awakened by their defensive miscue, the Rockets’ offense took action as Kevin Aguilar made it 1-1 with a scoring boot off an assist from Jaden Subacz. Locked at 1-1, another ten minutes stayed scoreless as Emya Irwin, Anushka Chakrabarti, and Shashwat Punjani stonewalled for the Comets’ defense while the Rockets’ defense equaled their effort with Chloe Gregory, Natallyah Teixeira, and Kyle O’Hara holding the highground. At the 10 minute mark, the Comets’ offense caught fire as Jarred Radil and Jacob Kowal stormed the net for two goals while Kasper Hooks and Kowal notched key assists. Trailing 3-1 with the clock ticking down, the Rockets fought back as Kevin Aguilar nailed two net jets, including a penalty shot with just five seconds left in regulation. Heading into an overtime shootout, the Rockets made the key move by putting Harsh Easwar in net. The move paid off as Easwar made three breath taking saves to set up Jaden Subacz’s game winning bolt as the Rockets stunned the Comets for a 4-3 O.T. victory.
