CRONIN, JOHN JOSEPH

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Feb. 13 at St. Dominic’s RC Church, Brick Township, for John Joseph Cronin, 78, of Brick Township, formerly of Jersey City. He passed away Feb. 10 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick. He worked as a clerk in the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office in Jersey City for many years. He also worked security for the longshoreman on the New York City Piers before retiring in 1998. He was a communicant of St. Dominic’s RC Church in Brick and a former member of St. Michael’s RC Church in Jersey City. Born and raised in Jersey City, he lived in Carteret before moving to Brick in 2006. Mr. Cronin was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores M. Cronin in 2005; daughter, Marie Alicia Cronin in 1983; parents, Dennis and Elizabeth Cronin; and brothers and sisters, David, Dennis, Patrick, Frank, Elizabeth, Julia and Marie. Surviving are his two daughters, Elaine C. Vanore and her husband, Louis of Spring Lake Heights, and Joann Osipovitch and her husband, George of Brick; seven grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Denesa, Jaclyn and her husband, Scott, Melissa, Christopher, Brian, Joseph, and Emily; three great grandchildren, Alanna, Maura and Selena; as well as a sister, Anna Stevens of Tuckerton. Services arranged by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick.
