Weehawken first aid wins award

On Saturday night, Nov. 29, the Weehawken Volunteer First Aid Squad took home the 1st place prize for “Best Lighted / Decorated Ambulance” at the annual Wallington Fire Department Holiday Parade.
This is the sixth consecutive year the squad has participated in this ever-growing holiday tradition. The decorating committee carefully transformed an ambulance into the Battleship Weehawken as a tribute to all our active service personnel and veterans.
This year’s parade included fire trucks, ambulances and emergency support vehicles from over 90 different agencies.
The squad also participated in the 15th annual North Hudson Firefighters Santa parade and navigated the crowds along Bergenline Avenue on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 14, to the delight of those in attendance.
And while the ambulance will be making two more appearances at upcoming Santa parades in Weehawken and Guttenberg, the committee is already looking ahead and in the planning stages for 2015. Members of the decorating committee included Lt. Yves Saad, Joseph Burns, Robert Quigley and Lt. Numargo Vasquez.
