I will

Dear Editor:
I am proud to announce Plan One of my agenda if elected to the Jersey City Municipal Council. There are many times in which candidates run and gives a vague explanation of a plan. That will not be the case for me. I will be open, honest and transparent. Plan One: Safe Havens for Jersey City Youth (Greenville) – Unfortunately, there is much abandoned properties in Greenville and sadly many of them stay that way for a very long time. I would reach out to the Hudson County Youth Services Commission to partner with the Greenville community. I would like to turn a few abandoned properties into safe havens for our children. The property could consist of a place to come to play games, receive homework help, various social services, etc. In regards to payment, I would reach out to large financial institutions to ask them to partner and help support a project such as this.
A few communities around the country has something similar to my plan and I would like to see this adopted into my community. It’s important that every child regardless of race, creed or sexuality has a safe haven to go after school. There are many children in my community that are in broken homes and I want them to know that the city has their backs and provide them with various safe haven locations throughout Ward A. In addition, I will be reaching out to the Jersey City Board of Education and the Jersey City Recreation Department to have extended hours as well for our children. If our children have various places and locations to attend, I guarantee the number of youth we see on our streets would dramatically decrease.
