Exciting things are happening in ‘Novho’ area of Hoboken

Dear Editor:
We were happy to read Caren Matzner’s February 1 article “Welcome to Novho!,” where she describes the exciting transformation of the Hoboken neighborhood that sits north of the viaduct. We cannot be more excited about moving our operations to the newly-built Artisan at 14th and Clinton.
You can see the energy build with the opening of each residential building and business. The local watering hole Carpe Diem was a pioneer before there was a ‘there’ there, and the Pilsner Haus provides a destination that invites people from outside the neighborhood. We believe our move into the neighborhood will create a synergy that will add to a vibrant cultural life. Imagine seeing a play or taking a class at Mile Square Theatre and rounding out the experience with a meal or a drink at these other fine establishments.
As implied in Matzner’s article, Mile Square Theatre has made a strategic partnership with Hoboken Children’s Theater, and together we make one organization: a new Mile Square Theatre. The new MST produces world-class theatre and offers theatre education for our young people, all in our spaces at the Artisan and Bijou Properties’ Edge Lofts. We have much to do to realize our arrival; our $1 million Taking Center Stage is in full swing and construction will soon begin on the build-out of the Artisan.
When it’s complete, Hoboken will have a beautiful new performing arts complex that will make our great city proud. We have the financial support of many of our community businesses and leaders in the Taking Center Stage campaign, and we invite everyone who supports arts and culture in Hoboken to join us to realize this rich cultural amenity.
