To the Editor:
I am very excited to see that so many people are getting ready for the upcoming school board election.
Recently, I have received many calls, emails, and letters about the ongoing situation at the board of ed. People are asking tons of questions about this year’s November school board election, the
superintendent’s new two-year contract, Davis’s school-board appointments, and whether or not an appointed board member can be un-appointed. But, most of all, people are concerned about all the missing money.
Everyone is talking about millions of dollars missing, who owes whom, and how high our taxes will be raised.
To be honest, the general consensus is that this is just another example of smoke and mirrors. Nothing more than a magician’s sleight-of-hand to distract the voters from what is really going on. Because if the school board owes the city money, then they can, and probably will, raise their portion of the property tax. And, if the city already received the money, but still needs more, then they will just raise the property tax on their part.
It looks like Bayonne homeowners are going to foot the bill one way or another. So don’t be fooled by any self-serving headlines in the newspaper, or with the dirty mud-slinging between the city administration and the school board.
The bottom line is: Money is missing. Your money. Taxpayer money. And that is incompetence, or worse.
Also, does anyone ever come close to using the 29,920 gallons of water that we must buy from United Water no matter what? Our city has an awful contract with United Water. What are Mayor Davis’s new appointees on the MUA doing to rectify this situation?
