Minotto, Ballance come up big for Eagles

After clinching a spot on this year’s JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division Championship round, the (8-3) Bengals faced the (4-7) Eagles in their regular season finally. It took the Eagles’ offense just two plays to get on the board as Anthony Minotto sprinted 25 yards for a TD followed by James Bajor’s leaping two point snare for an 8-0 lead. The Bengals cut the Eagles’ lead to 8-6 as Kyle Arano battled his way to “wounded duck” of a pass to reel in a TD. Up by 2, the Eagles made it 14-6 as Eric Solis drilled a TD strike to fullback Ryan Ballance. Sticking with their air attack the Bengals narrowed the Eagles’ lead to 14-12 as QB Drew Radil hit Jared Radil with a 10 yard TD bullet. With both squads rolling defensively, the Eagles widened their lead to 20-12 as Chris Ballance turned a screen play into a 15 yard TD run. Seesawing back, the Bengals evened the score at 20 all with another TD pass to Jared Radil and a two point sweep by Alex Camacho. With time running down, the Bengals’ defense stepped up as Harsh Easwar and the Giron brothers, Andres and Ian, helped force the Eagles’ offense to go “three and out.” The Bengals then took their first lead of the bout as Drew Radil hit Alex Camacho on a 30 yard wheel route to make it 26-20, Bengals. As the Bengals’ “D” readied for the long ball, the Eagles worked the ball up court with Jacob Kowal notching a 10 and 15 yard run to put the ball in the “red zone.” With 58 seconds remaining, the Eagles sealed the deal as Ryan Ballance held on to the game tying TD pass while Anthony Minotto’s 2 point grab closed things out at 28-26, Eagles.
