A mass of Christian burial took place Jan. 9 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for Anne K. Sinnott, 100, of Jersey City. She passed away at her home on Jan. 6. Born in her family home on Tuers Avenue, Anne graduated from Lincoln High School and later attended New Jersey City University where she excelled in English and writing. Anne began her work career with the US Army Quartermaster Corps in 1941 at the Harborside Terminal in Jersey City. In 1943 she transferred to their Manhattan offices and then in 1948 Anne was transferred to the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot where she lived in the Bartram Hotel in Philadelphia.
In 1957, Anne returned to Jersey City to be closer to and care for her parents. During this time, Anne worked for General Service Administration in New York City. In 1974, after more than 30 years in the nations’ service, Anne retired from Federal Civil Service. Upon retirement, Anne went to work for the Hudson County Welfare Board in Jersey City where she worked for 12 more years. Upon her full retirement, Anne began her studies at New Jersey City University from 1986-1988. Anne was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Anne was predeceased by her father, Police Capt. John Sinnott (JCPD) and her mother Margaret Sinnott and her brothers, John Joseph Sinnott, William Victor Sinnott and James Robert Sinnott. She is survived by her sister-in-law Anne Sinnott, 10 nieces and nephews, three great nieces and their families and her caregivers, Princene, Sandy, Hally and Marie.
