With their spot in this year’s JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Championship game secured, the (7-2-1) Jets closed out their 2014 regular season with a showdown against the (3-5-1) Bears. The Jets got rolling quickly as Andres Giron reeled in two TDtosses to put his squad up 12-0. With his arm locked and loaded, Bears’ QB Matt Miceli rifled a TD pass to Nicholas Resua and a two point dart to Jake “Bavaro” Bellero to cut the Jets’ lead to 12-8. The tight contest took a turn in the second half as the Jets’ offense caught fire with Giron hauling in his third TD of the bout and Dylan Subacz racing goal to goal for his 10th TD of the season as the Jets built a 24-8 advantage. As dropped balls mounted, the Bears’ offense finally got back on track as Miceli peppered the ball to Nazar Kolesnyk and Bellero before hitting paydirt with a 22 yard TD strike to Nicholas Resua. Up 24-14, the Jets put the finishing touches on their 2014 regular season campaign as Aaliyana Cifuentes zipped coast to coast for a TD while Subacz rumbled in for the two point conversion as the Jets prevailed 32-14.
