Radil guides Bengals as jinx broken

Its five weeks into the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division, no team has been able to shake the “doubleheader” “jinx” with all three squads unable to win a single bout when they reached the now dreaded two game gauntlet. Hoping to erase all that bad karma, the (3-2) Bengals took on the (3-2) Eagles in game one of their second doubleheader. The “jinx” seemed to be staying true to form after each team traded scores, with the Eagles’ Ryan Ballance scoring on the game’s first snap and Jacob Kowal tacking on the two point grab followed by the Bengals’ Jared Radil rushing for a TD and two point play making it 8 all. Ten minutes later, the Bengals trailed 24-8 as Chris Ballance hauled in two TDs and a two point conversion while the Eagles’ defense kicked in with a two point safety. With the doubleheader “jinx” on full display, the Bengals got down to work as Drew Radil hit Alex Camacho on a TD dart making it 24-14, Eagles. Two plays later the Bengals made it a 24-20 bout on Jared Radil’s 35 yard interception return for a TD. The fired-up Bengals continued to ring up points as Jared Radil raced in for his third TD while Kyle Arano reeled in a two point pass. Now leading 28-24, the Bengals’ defense struck again by making it 30-24 as Ian Giron, Harsh Easwar, Andres Giron, and Drew Radil smothered the Eagles’ ballcarrier for a safety. With the “jinx” now in their rear view mirror, the Bengals surged again with Drew Radil latching on to a TD and Jared Radil snaring a two point lazer for a 38-24 Bengals lead. The “jinx” reared its face one more time as the Eagles Chris Ballance and Jacob Kowal made it 38-32 with a TD and two point catch. Finally the “jinx” was laid to rest with Jared Radil’s 20 yard TD sprint as the Bengals prevailed 44-32. A special mention must be given to the Eagles’ Erik Solis for his outstanding efforts on offense and defense.
