Radil blazes way for Bengals

Locked in a three team log jam with all three of JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division teams sitting at (2-2) week four certainly shook things up. In game one of their double header week, the Chargers’ league leading defense took on the Bengals and their league’s best offense. On the game’s very first play, it was the Bengals’ defense that made a statement as Jared Radil returned an interception for a 30 yard TD. Radil then tacked on a two point grab as the Bengals quickly gained an 8-0 lead. One play after falling behind, the Chargers answered as James Johnson raced full court for a TD followed by Johnson’s two point snare making it 8 all. Living up to the top defensive squad billing, the Chargers’ free safety Jaden Subacz returned a “pick” to paydirt and after another Johnson 2 point play the Chargers led 16-8. Just before the half, the Bengals cut the Chargers’ lead to 16-14 as Andres Giron rushed in from 27 yards out. Opening the second half, the Bengals’ offense went to the air as QB Drew Radil connected with Jared Radil on a 30 yard TD strike putting the Bengals up 20-16. Returning to their ground game, the Chargers soon regained the lead at 22-20 as short runs by Kevin Aguilar and Kasper Hooks helped set up a Jalen Nash TD sprint. Trailing by 2 with just under three minutes to play, the Bengals took to the air as Jared Radil hauled in a goal to goal bomb making it 26-22, Bengals. After three dropped passes by Chargers’ receivers, the Bengals once again took over on offense. With Alex Camacho, Ian Giron, Kyle Arano and Harsh Easwar each catching passes out of the backfield, the Bengals set up an option toss to QB Drew Radil who bulled in for a TD giving the Bengals a 32-22 lead with just 56 seconds remaining. Striking quickly the Chargers closed the gap to 32-30 as QB Brandon Kobryn drilled a TD dart to Jaden Subacz followed by a two point pitch to James Johnson. With no timeouts, the Chargers’ comeback hopes rapidly faded as the Bengals ran out the clock for a narrow 32-30 win.
