Giron, Bellero keep Jets soaring

Sitting in the top spot at (3-1), the Jets faced the (1-2) Bears for a week 4 JCC of Bayonne Jr. Division Indoor Flag Football showdown. The Jets got on the board first as Andres Giron reeled in a 15 yard TD toss followed by Dylan Subucz’s two point sweep to make it 8-0, Jets. With team captain Matt Miceli at the helm, the Bears quickly answered as Miceli connected with his “go to guy” Nicholas Resua for a 30 yard TD dart and a two point pass. Averaging 39 points a game, the Jets offense used all their weapons to put together a wire to wire drive as Aaliyana Cifuentes keyed the drive with a 30 yard run down to the Bears’ 3 yard mark. Three plays later, fullback Brendan McCall blasted in for his second TD of the season making it 24-14, Jets. Needing to fire up the troops, the Bears’ defense stepped up as Chandler Owens, Nazar Kolesnyk, and Matt Miceli notched a two point safety with a huge play in the Jets’ endzone. Trailing 24-16 the Bears kept the heat on as Nicholas Resua raced 25 yards for a TD to make it a 24-22 game with just over two minutes remaining in the bout. With a narrow two point lead, the Jets finally iced the victory as Jake “Bavaro” Bellero battled free in the back of the endzone for a 10 yard TD catch. Needing two points to seal the deal, the Jets’ Andres Giron once again raced around the Bears’ defense for two points and a 32-22 Jets win.
