Turkey drive for Thanksgiving being run by city

BAYONNE – The city of Bayonne is sponsoring a drive to provide turkeys and groceries to the less fortunate in time for Thanksgiving.
Two local non-profits, the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation and Highways (of the Windmill Alliance), are participating.
“We have a food donation box in the Office on Aging at City Hall, 630 Avenue C, and at the circulation desk at the library, 697 Avenue C,” said Mayor James Davis. “Canned goods and other non-perishable grocery items are welcomed.”
The BEOF and Highways are also accepting financial contributions to cover the cost of turkeys and other items that will go to needy households.
Those interested in making tax-deductible contributions for the food drive to Highways should make the check payable to the Windmill Alliance. The memo line should specify “Highways holiday food drive only.” The mailing address is: Windmill Alliance, 141 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
Anyone who would like to offer a tax-deductible contribution to the BEOF should make the check payable to the BEOF. The memo line should specify “BEOF Thanksgiving food drive only.” The mailing address is BEOF, P.O. Box 1032, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
Cookie’s Food Drive, the collection at City Hall, is named after the late Cookie Daughtrey, who organized the drive for many years.
