SUBSTITUTION.

QUESTION: In high school volleyball, what is the maximum number of team substitutions allowed per set? ( Unlimited, 18 or 15).
ANSWER: Each squad is permitted a maximum of eighteen per set. If a substitute tries to re-enter as the 19th substitution, the team is penalized with unnecessary delay ( time out assessed) for illegal substitution. ( Rule 10, Sec. 3, Art. 7 c).

QUESTION: The serving order for Team (S) is Jones, Kidd, Lynn, Moon, Ness and Oden. During a set, Pash enters as a sub for Jones. After a few rally exchanges, Jones re-enters for Pash. Is there a limit to number of times Pash can re-enter? Can Pash re-enter for another starter?
ANSWER: Players are allowed unlimited entries within the team limit. Pash may not re-enter in a different position in the rotation. The position of a sub shall be that of the player replaced and keeping the serving order intact. ( Rule 1, Sec. 3, Art. 1 & 2 ).
