Minotto pick seals Eagles win

With both squads boasting 1-0 records, the Bengals and Eagles squared off in a JCC of Bayonne Indoor Flag Football Sr. Division bout. Hitting on the very first play of the game, the Eagles’ Jacob Kowal hauled in a goal to goal TD bomb followed by James Bajors’ two point dash for an 8-0 lead. Two plays later the Bengals answered as Jared Radil tied the game at 8-8 with a TD catch and two point run. After working the ball up court with short passes to Ryan Ballance, Erik Solis and Chris Ballance, the Eagles cashed in with a 5 yard TD run and a 2 point sweep to Anthony Minotto as the Eagles regained the lead at 16-8. Playing in his first game of the season, the Bengals’ Alex Camacho turned his first catch into a 6 point gem as his coast to coast TD cut the Eagles’ lead to 16-14. The seesaw battle continued with the Eagles making it 24-14 as James Bajor rushed for a TD while Jacob Kowal capped off the drive with a 2 point grab. Moments later, the Bengals struck paydirt as Kyle Arano scored on a TD toss with Drew Radil tacking on a 2 point snare making it 24-22, Eagles. As the Bengals clawed at their heels, the Eagles finally gained some breathing room with a James Bajor TD catch and another 2 point gallop by Anthony Minotto followed by a defensive blitz for a safety as the Eagles built a 34-22 advantage. Trailing by 12, the Bengals’ defense stepped up as Ian Giron, Jared Radil, Harsh Easwar and Andres Giron joined forces to trap the Eagles’ ball carrier for a safety making it 34-24, Eagles. One play later, the Bengals’ Alex Camacho made it a 34-30 game with his second goal to goal TD grab. After stopping the Eagles just short of a first down, the Bengals got one last shot with 4 seconds remaining but the Eagles’ free safety Anthony Minotto put out the fire with an interception and a full court TD return as the Eagles survived with a 40-30 victory. A special mention must be given to the Eagles’ Ashley Solis who had two key first down runs and four defensive stops.
