To the Editor:
I am upset that the public question re-instating rent control went down to defeat.
I am even more upset that Mayor Jimmy Davis did not lift a finger to save rent control to help tenants in our city. Back in May and June, Jimmy Davis campaigned loudly on the need to have rent control.
Davis promised the tenants publicly that he would be pro-rent control, but Mayor Davis betrayed us. He broke his word to tenants, and did nothing to help the rent control public question.
Davis would not even mention the matter in recent months. That is why rent control was rejected.
Taxpayers beware. Higher taxes are just around the corner without rent control. Tenants should remember that Mayor Davis betrayed us.
