Dear Editor:
It is my pleasure to support Frances Rhodes-Kearns and Peter Biancamano for the Hoboken Board of Education. Both candidates are incumbents and both candidates have been watchdogs on the school budget, supporters of our teachers and staff and have been successful at trying to keep a handle on runaway costs. Each voted against the recent Board budget, each voted against firing our beloved bus drivers and transportation support staff, each voted against illegally firing kindergarten classroom aides and each voted against initiating costly lawsuits impacting charter schools in Hoboken. Most importantly, both Trustees have been against taking the right of the citizens of Hoboken to vote on the school budget.
As elected officials, they have always been there to listen to our concerns, answer our questions, do the exhaustive research that is needed and call us back. Each gives us the information we need to become better informed taxpayers and voters. Like you, I have sat and watched many Board of Education meetings over the past few years, and know that Fran and Peter truly care about the education and overall well-being of all the children of Hoboken.
We are lucky to have two people with the passion, knowledge and expertise that Kathy has shown to represent us on the Board of Education. We couldn’t ask for better candidates. I urge you to vote for Peter Biancamano (4H) and Frances Rhodes-Kearns (8H).
Sincerely,
Jude Fitzgibbons
