The JCC of Bayonne’s Jr. Division Indoor Flag Football season got underway with the Colts taking on the Bears. For the Bears, their up tempo pace caught the Colts off guard as Nicholas Resua notched three opening half TDs with a thirty yard gallop and a coast to coast run and reception. Adding to the Bears’ offensive fire power was Logan Page who reeled in a two point dart from QB Matt Miceli for a 20-0 Bears half time advantage. With miscues plaguing their offense, the Colts’ Talen Alsop took matters into his own hands by rushing for 50 yards on 6 carries to open up the second half but the Bears’ defense kept the end-zone off limits. While Alsop sparked the Colts’ running game, Raunak Verma, Christian Mekheil and Amir Asouti dug in for the Colts’ defense to slow the Bears’ attack. As the two minute warning approached, the Bears’ offense delivered a body plow when Matt Miceli scampered 28 yards to pay dirt followed by Logan Page’s finger tip grab for two points and a 28-0 Bears’ lead. The Bears threw one more scare into the Colts’ defense but Nazar Kolesnyk’s up court burst was halted by a brilliant defensive stop by Talen Alsop. In the end, the Bears prevailed with an impressive 28-0 victory.
