Alleged urination offense leads to drug arrest
A man allegedly observed by police urinating in public got into more trouble when marijuana was allegedly found on him.
On Oct. 21 at 9:35 p.m., police allegedly observed Fabian Augusto, 22, of Armstrong Avenue in Jersey City urinating at the corner the of 44th and Kennedy Boulevard, according to Bayonne Police Lt. Janine Foy.
“As they approached to issue him a summons, they smelled the odor of raw marijuana,” Foy said.
At that point, a search of Augusto allegedly turned up 38 Ziploc bags of suspected marijuana in his possession, according to Foy.
Augusto was charged with four offenses: possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, distribution within 500 feet of a park (Stephen R. Gregg), and distribution within 1,000 feet of a school (Washington).
Augusto’s bail was set at a $75,000 cash amount, and not making it, he was remanded to the Hudson County Jail, Foy said.
Receiving stolen property charge made against two
A car reported stolen on Oct. 20 turned up later that day in the possession of two others, and led to charges against its occupants, police said.
The vehicle, a 2005 Cadillac SRX, was taken from in front of a West 22nd Street home at 8:38 a.m.
Later that day, the officer who had taken the report observed the vehicle traveling east on 19th Street near Avenue C.
“He stopped the vehicle, with two occupants, in front of 9 West 19th Street,” said Police Lt. Janine Foy.
The driver, John W. Rusch, 24, of Avenue E, and the passenger, Amanda L. Schino, 23, of 25th Street, were both arrested for allegedly receiving stolen property, according to Foy.
Schino was also charged with possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, a small wax paper envelope, commonly used to package heroin, Foy said.
Also, there was a warrant out of Hudson County Superior Court on Rusch, police said.
Schino was released on summons. Rusch was remanded to the county jail.
Clerk allegedly punched in face during struggle for cigarettes
A Bayonne man’s quest for cigarettes wound up allegedly escalating into a struggle, and then a robbery charge against him, according to police.
On Oct. 16 at 9:20 p.m., Radoslaw K. Hryniuk, 32, of Broadway, went to the Genolla Deli, 245 Broadway, and attempted to obtain a pack of cigarettes on credit from the store clerk, according to Lt. Janine Foy.
“When the store clerk refused, the actor grabbed the cigarettes anyway,” Foy said. “In the struggle, the store clerk wound up getting punched in the face.”
Hryniuk allegedly fled the store prior to police arrival. However, he was known to the store clerk, Foy said, and police proceeded to his address across the street from the deli, where he was arrested without incident.
Hryniuk was charged with robbery. His bail was set at $25,000 with a 10-percent cash option.
No injury was reported for the clerk, and he refused medical attention, Foy said.
