Alonso’s abortion issue is irrelevant to freeholder’s race

Dear Editor:
After serious consideration and research, I vote for the candidate I feel is the most qualified for the position. After reading the articles in the Community News regarding the position of freeholder in Bayonne, I strongly urge all the citizens represented in Bayonne and Jersey City to vote for Kenneth Kopacz.
As president of the Simpson-Baber Autism Foundation and board member of the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation, (BEOF) Mr. Kopacz has worked to help individuals and families of Bayonne. He is the principal of Washington School, a position that demands leadership qualities and the ability to make decisions that affect communities at large.
Where is it evident that Mr. Alonso has the experience it takes to accomplish what is needed for Bayonne or the districts of Jersey City? After running failed races for Assemblyman and Third Ward Councilman, Mr. Alonso tried to sell out the families of Bayonne and Jersey City by publicly invoking the extremely personal and painful issue of abortion in a context where it’s completely irrelevant. Your actions, Mr. Alonso, show that, like a parasite, you are extremely opportunistic. You are desperately grabbing at issues that affect people’s lives when it’s completely and totally unnecessary. What would you do in the event you were asked to exercise real leadership in an actual situation? Regardless of where people stand on the issue of abortion, I am sure they will recognize Mr. Alonso’s desperate attempts to diminish the actual accomplishments of Mr. Kopacz and vote for integrity.
