WEST NEW YORK – As part of Optimum Community’s “Student Lens” project, Memorial High School students in West New York will conduct a screening of their video project that chronicles the responsibilities and daily activities of Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto. After the screening, Prieto and students involved in the project will participate in a Q&A with members of the audience.
“Student Lens” – a student-produced video project that chronicles the daily activities of an elected official – is filmed and edited in its entirety by students, with technical guidance supplied by Cablevision’s Local Programming Department. The project provides students with an opportunity to use valuable media creation skills, as well as provide an insider’s view of what it means to serve the public.
Memorial High School received a $1,000 grant from Optimum Community to cover expenses incurred in producing the video.
Present for the screening will be Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, Cablevision Emcee Shawna Ryan, Cablevision Public Affairs Manager Tricia Kaminski, WNY School Superintendent John Fauta, Principal Scott Wohlrab, Teachers Alix Polynice and Samantha Rodriguez, and approximately 400 students in grades 10 to 12. The event will take place at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 in the Memorial High School Auditorium, 5501 Park Ave., West New York
