Committed to our community

Dear Editor:
I am running for re-election to the Hoboken School Board because of my deep commitment to our community. My family roots in the Mile Square City go back four generations, and my demonstrated compassion for the children of our town continues to inspire me as a School Board Trustee to do what is best for all of our students.
As a parent of two children who both attended Hoboken Public Schools – my son, Roary Miller is currently a Hoboken Police Officer – I am fully aware of the need for parents to get involved in the education of their sons and daughters to ensure that their children are getting the most from the learning process. I can identify with those mothers and fathers who find themselves juggling their schedules between work and home, struggling to meet the needs of their families. I am no stranger to that situation. That is why I pride myself on being the voice of parents, as well as students, on the school board. The more input our families have, the better our educational system will be.
I also serve as the legislative delegate for our district, and work closely with our governmental relations representatives to advocate for the needs of our students. In this capacity, I travel regularly to Trenton on behalf of our school system to fight for legislation on the state and federal levels that will help Hoboken and impact favorably on the education of our youth. And, as a member of the NJSBA Committee on special education, I am particularly concerned with monitoring all measures and regulations pertaining to special education in our city. I love Hoboken, and I want to continue to give back to the town I love so much by serving on the Board of Education. I am dedicated to the improvement of our schools and enhancing the opportunities for our children. That is why my running mate, Peter Biancamano, and I are running for re-election on the slate entitled “Education for All Children”. That is what we are committed to: education for all children. And that is what we are determined to provide.
Please join us in this effort by voting 4H and 8H on November 4th. Your vote for Biancamano and Rhodes-Kearns will help make it a reality.

Thank you for your involvement in our Children’s future.
Frances Rhodes-Kearns
Hoboken School Board Trustee
