A funeral mass was held Oct. 11 at the Church of Our Lady of Grace for Patrick J. Caufield, 69, a lifelong Hoboken resident. He passed away at home on Oct. 7. Patrick attended high school in Hoboken. After graduation he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford. His first occupation was with the Chemical Banking System in New York City; he was engaged there for some eighteen years. He then began his 25 year career history with the City of Hoboken, beginning with the duties of the Director of Parking. Later he became the Director of Welfare for the City of Hoboken, and for several years was the Personnel Director for Hoboken. He retired as the Tenant and Landlord Advocate for the city. A parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Church, he was also a member of the Hoboken Elks. Predeceased by his parents, Hoboken Police Officer Michael “Mickey” P. Caufield and Doris (nee: Holmes); as well as two sisters, Michele DeTrizzio and Edna Silva; and his sister-in-law, Margaret Caufield. Patrick is survived by his sister, Frances Kearins and her husband Michael; a brother, Walter Caufield; and a brother-in-law, Henry Silva. He will be missed by a host of nieces and nephews.
