Feeling blessed

To the Editor:

Feeling blessed, growing up in Bayonne, there is a nondescript park on the east side between 23rd and 24th streets on Gregg Lane. Sister Miriam Theresa Demjanovich, for whom this park was named. On October 4 at the Sacred Heart Basilica in Newark, I was involved with the Fourth Degree, Star of the Sea council in a ceremony mass for the Beatification of Sister Miriam Theresa Demjanovich of the sisters of charity of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey. Much thanks to Holy Father Pope Francis, who was watching this ceremony live at the Vatican, to accept her authentic miracle of the medically unexplainable cure of a young boy. Her death on May 8, 1927 at age 26 was the beginning of a process to this day. That day was the 19th anniversary of the visit of Pope Paul II to raise the Cathedral to Basilica. He walked the same steps as we did that day. I would like to thank color guard Captain Vincent Sciancalepore and faithful Navigator Eric Zebrowski and my fellow Knights and Mayor James Davis who was there to represent the City of Bayonne which was on every newspaper and TV station throughout the Tristate area. Bayonne was mentioned several times during the ceremony. The crowd was estimated by police at approximated 3,000, capacity 2,500. This was great for the archdiocese of Newark and our Knights of Columbus council Star of the Sea, and the City of Bayonne. Feeling Blessed.
