Cello and bass duo to perform on Oct. 12 at the Secaucus library

SECAUCUS – Cellist E. Zoe Hassman and bassist Boots Maleson will perform at the Secaucus Public Library and Business Resource Center at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 12. This will be an encore performance for Hassman, who was enthusiastically received at prior performances in 2009 and 2011.
“We are so pleased to start off our fall concert series with such a talented duo,” said Library Director Jenifer May. “Zoe and Boots have played together at other venues both as a duo and as part of a much larger ensemble, and I think this promises to be an amazing concert.”
Maleson has been one of the top in-demand bassists in New York City for over 30 years, working with such jazz greats as Milt Jackson, Archie Shepp, Jack Wilson, and Benny Carter. He has played in the big bands of Harry James, Jimmy Dorsey, Bob Alexander, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra.
Hassman attended The Curtis Institute of Music and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from The Juilliard School of Music. She has toured with Barbra Streisand, performed with the New York Philharmonic, the New York City Opera Orchestra, and many Broadway shows, including The Lion King.
The concert will take place in the Panasonic Room on the second floor of the library. Space is limited and registration is required. To register, call (201) 330-2083 x4011 or visit Secaucuslibrary.org.
